Carbon steel is an extremely hard alloy with a hardness of over 59 HRC, consisting of carbon (C), manganese (Mn) and silicon (Si). Even the finest grain nippers made of carbon steel have a very stable spring hardness, which makes their tips particularly robust.

Carbon steel is neither anti-magnetic nor resistant to acid and corrosion. Due to its magnetic properties, it cannot be sterilized.
