The masking pen is suitable for precise masking of areas of workpieces during electroplating. The easy-flowing red masking lacquer allows both fine contours and larger areas to be masked. The pen is also suitable for masking gemstones, pearls, coral and other similarly sensitive areas.

The masking lacquer is suitable for use in acidic gold plating baths and conventional rhodium immersion baths. The lacquer is not resistant to alkaline baths and electrolytes. Therefore, do not use it with silver and cyanide-based gold plating baths.

Application

Before masking, the workpiece must be electrolytically degreased or pre-treated with hot degreasing. After pre-treatment, the areas to be electroplated must not be touched again.

After applying the masking lacquer, allow approximately 5 minutes for drying at room temperature (20–22 °C). After electroplating, the lacquer can be removed with industrial alcohol, acetone or a comparable solvent.

Note: After applying the masking lacquer, ultrasonic cleaning or electrolytic degreasing is no longer possible.
